WRC 2019 Agenda Item Details
Agenda Item: | Agenda Item 1.12 |
Resolution(s): | Resolution 237 [COM6/13] (WRC-15) |
Description of work: | This agenda item relates to consideration of possible global or regional harmonized frequency bands, to the maximum extent possible, for the implementation of evolving Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) under existing mobile-service allocations, in accordance with Resolution 237 [COM6/13] (WRC-15). ITS systems are communication applications for the purpose of improving traffic management and assisting safe driving and the Resolution notes use of bands around 5.8 GHz for short range applications. It also emphasizes that the provisions of Nos. 1.59 and 4.10 (relating to safety services) do not apply for railway radiocommunication systems. The ITU-R is invited to carry out studies on technical and operational aspects of evolving ITS implementation using existing mobile-service allocations. |
Lead Working Party(s): | WP 5A |

How Visualyse products can help: | Visualyse Professional can model moving communications between vehicles and roadside stations or other systems that might share spectrum with them such as those in the fixed and mobile services including RLANs or aggregation into satellites. Analysis can be undertaken at a range of frequencies including VHF using static, dynamic, area or Monte Carlo methodologies for both co-frequency and non-co-frequency scenarios. Vehicles can be defined to follow roads to calculate either likelihood of interference or interference zones. Detailed models can include traffic and transmit / receive masks for non-co-frequency analysis. Propagation models such as P.1546, P.1812 and P.2001 can be used which take account of terrain and/or clutter databases or generic models such as Hata / COST 231 used. |
How Transfinite consultants can help: | We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the services covered by this agenda item, and identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criterias, and provide contributions and representation at ITU-R Working Parties. Using our in house Visualyse Professional we can quickly model a very wide range of systems, services and scenarios. |
