WRC 2019 Agenda Item Details
Agenda Item: | Agenda Item 1.9.2 |
Resolution(s): | Resolution 360 (Rev.WRC-15) |
Description of work: | This agenda item relates to consideration of, based upon the results of ITU-R studies: modifications of the Radio Regulations, including new spectrum allocations to the maritime mobile-satellite service (Earth-to-space and space-to-Earth), preferably within the frequency bands 156.0125-157.4375 MHz and 160.6125-162.0375 MHz of Appendix 18, to enable a new VDES satellite component, while ensuring that this component will not degrade the current terrestrial VDES components, ASM and AIS operations and not impose any additional constraints on existing services in these and adjacent frequency bands. |
Lead Working Party(s): | WP 5B |
Involved Working Parties: | WP 1B, WP 3M, WP 4C, WP 5A, WP 5C |
How Visualyse products can help: | Visualyse Professional can model maritime services and maritime mobile satellite services including radiocommunication systems located on ships or satellites. Analysis can be undertaken at a range of frequencies including VHF using static, dynamic, area or Monte Carlo methodologies for both co-frequency and non-co-frequency scenarios. Ships can be sailed along shipping routes or randomized within a zone to calculate either likelihood of interference or interference zones. Detailed models can include traffic and transmit / receive masks for non-co-frequency analysis. Propagation models such as P.1546, P.1812 and P.2001 can be used which take account of propagation over water bodies. |
How Transfinite consultants can help: | We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the services covered by this agenda item, and identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criterias, and provide contributions and representation at ITU-R Working Parties. Using our in house Visualyse Professional we can quickly model a very wide range of systems, services and scenarios. |
