Agenda Item: | Agenda Item 9.1 Topic C |
Resolution(s): | Resolution 175 (COM6/18) (WRC-19) |
Description of work: | This agenda item is to study the use of International Mobile Telecommunication (IMT) system for fixed wireless broadband in the frequency bands allocated to the fixed services on primary basis. The ITU-R is invited to conduct any necessary studies on the use of IMT systems for fixed wireless broadband in the frequency bands allocated to the fixed service on primary basis, taking into account the relevant ITU-R studies, Handbooks, Recommendations and Reports The Director of the BR is instructed to report on the results of the ITU-R studies to WRC-23 |
Comments: | This was one of the late night surprises of WRC-19, where it was noted that there were a lot of frequency bands where there is a primary allocation to the fixed service! This is a joint activity of WP 5A and WP 5C and a joint plenary may be held if required. |
Lead Working Party(s): | WP 5A, WP 5C |
Involved Working Parties: | WP 1B, WP 4A, WP 4C, WP 5D, WP 6A, WP 7B, WP 7C, WP 7D |
How Visualyse products can help: | Visualyse Professional can model IMT including IMT-2020 (5G) providing both fixed and mobile services and any of the many other services that might be effected, including other terrestrial (fixed, mobile) and space (e.g. the FSS). A range of modelling methodologies can be used including static and dynamic including modelling of satellite orbits. Propagation models are available for space to space, space to Earth and terrestrial paths and Visualyse Professional can model both co-frequency and non-co-frequency interference scenarios. Recently Visualyse Professional was used to model IMT under the old agenda item 1.13. |
How Transfinite consultants can help: | We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the different services covered by this agenda item including IMT / IMT-2020 (5G) and other services including fixed, mobile and satellite. We can help identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criteria, and provide contributions and representation at ITU-R Working Parties. Using our in house Visualyse Professional we can quickly model a very wide range of systems, services and scenarios. |
