| Description of work: |
This agenda item relates to aeronautical mobile (R) services in bands between 108 MHz and 6 GHz. It notes there are new requirements to support air navigation, and so the following work is required:
i) to identify if existing allocations to aeronautical services are sufficient for these new applications;
ii) if additional spectrum is required, to identify what might be suitable bands, taking into account the need to not constrain existing and planned use of such bands, and so undertaking sharing studies where required;
iii) in particular, how to accommodate the requirements for aeronautical systems in the band 5 091 - 5 150 MHz
iv) to consider what actions would be required to broaden current satellite frequency allocations to support the expansion of the ICAO CNS/ATM system

We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the services covered by this agenda item, and identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criterias, and provide contributions and representation at relevant ITU-R Working Parties. We have experience from work examining compatibility between aeronautical services from studies of sharing at 14 GHz and supporting a non-GSO FSS operator to meet their requirements at the ITU-R relating to the 5 GHz band. |
