WRC 2023 Agenda Item Details
Agenda Item: | Agenda Item 1.17 |
Resolution(s): | Resolution 773 (COM6/14) (WRC-19) |
Description of work: | This agenda item is to determine and carry out, on the basis of the ITU-R Studies in accordance with Resolution COM6/14 (WRC-19), the appropriate regulatory actions for the provision of inter-satellite links in specific frequency bands, or portions thereof, by adding an inter-satellite service allocation where appropriate. The ITU-R is invited to:
WRC-23 is invited to review the results of these studies and take necessary actions, as appropriate |
Comments: | One motivation for this work is the growth in the number of EESS satellites and the data rates they generate. With new services such as video and mini-constellations of EESS satellites, there is an increasing need to provide continuous high-data rates communication from EESS satellites in LEO back to ground stations. In addition, these services could be used to provide global TT&C coverage without requiring large numbers of Earth stations. |

How Visualyse products can help: | Visualyse Professional can model the inter-satellite links between LEO or MEO and GSO in the frequency range identified. It can also spectrum sharing with other service in these and adjacent bands including GSO FSS, non-GSO constellations, fixed, mobile, EESS (passive) etc services. A range of modelling methodologies can be used including static and dynamic including modelling of satellite orbits. Propagation models are available for space to space, space to Earth and terrestrial paths and Visualyse Professional can model both co-frequency and non-co-frequency interference scenarios |
How Transfinite consultants can help: | We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the different services covered by this agenda item including inter-satellite links between LEO or MEO to GSO and other GSO services, non-GSO constellations or fixed, mobile and EESS services. We can help identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criteria, and provide contributions and representation at ITU-R Working Parties. Using our in house Visualyse Professional we can quickly model a very wide range of systems, services and scenarios. |
