WRC 2007 Agenda Item Details

Agenda Item: Resolution 144 [COM5/15]
Resolution(s): Resolution 144 [COM5/15]
Description of work: This resolution refers to the issue of sharing between earth stations of the fixed satellite service (Earth to space) and radiolocation stations in the band 13.75 to 14 GHz. At WRC-03 the dish size limit was reduced from 4.5m to 1.2, but a PFD at country border or coastline has been introduced of -115 dB(W/m^2) in 10 MHz not to be exceeded for more than 1% of time. Further work is required to develop ITU-R Recommendations that will establish technical or operation methods to facilitate sharing - for example allowing more flexible deployment of earth stations and that could be used during bilateral discussions between administrations.
Lead Working Party(s): WP 4A
Involved Working Parties: WP 4A, WP 8B
How Visualyse products can help: Visualyse Professional was used for almost all the studies in JTG 4-7-8 of this issue, and can be used to analyse this sharing scenario, for example to display the extent of an exclusion zone where ES can not be located as they would cause unacceptable levels of PFD.
How Transfinite consultants can help: We can undertake studies including analysis of sharing between the services covered by this resolution, and identify suitable system characteristics and sharing criterias, and provide contributions and representation at relevant ITU-R Working Parties. We have extensive experience of this sharing scenario from previous work undertaken, and could define the algorithm required to calculated the PFD in the form of a PDNR.
